Lunar Calendar & Converter

Convert between solar and lunar dates, browse a lunar calendar with leap months, sexagenary names, solar terms and holidays, and find the solar dates of lunar anniversaries.

Conversion runs in your browser and the dates you enter are not sent anywhere. Supported range: 1 January 1900 – 31 December 2100 (solar).

How the sexagenary names work

The year name changes at the lunar new year, not at Ipchun (start of spring) as in saju fortune reading, so the two can differ between the two dates. The month name follows the lunar month number (a leap month shares the previous one), and the day name cycles every 60 days.

Data and basis

A lunar table built on Korea Standard Time is embedded (the browser's built-in Chinese calendar differs from the Korean one in some years, so it is not used). For 1900–2050 every date was verified against a Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute–based library (korean-lunar-calendar, MIT); 2051 onward are computed values from the same algorithm. Astronomical calculation uses lunar-javascript (MIT). Holidays follow current law and confirmed temporary holidays and election days; ones announced later are not reflected.

FAQ

How do I enter a leap month?

In "Lunar → Solar", pick the month and tick "Leap month". If that year has no such leap month, a message explains.

Do some years differ from the Chinese lunar calendar?

Yes. When the new moon falls near midnight, Korea Standard Time (UTC+9) and China Standard Time (UTC+8) can land on different days. For example, Lunar New Year 2027 is 7 February in Korea and 6 February in China.

Are the dates I enter stored?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is transmitted.
