Checkers (Easy)

Checkers against the computer (Easy). Fewer moves in a won game ranks higher.

Controls Goal: capture all the computer's pieces or leave it with no legal move. You play the bottom side and move first. A piece moves one step diagonally forward from a dark square, and jumps (captures) an adjacent diagonal enemy piece if the square behind it is empty. If you can capture you must (the pieces that can capture get a pulsing outline), and if the same piece can keep jumping it continues. Reaching the far row crowns a king (♛) that can also move backward, one step at a time. 80 moves without a capture or crowning is a draw (not recorded). Only wins are recorded, and the fewer moves you make before winning the higher you rank. Controls: click or tap your piece to see dots on where it can go, then click a dotted square. On a keyboard move between squares with the arrow keys (Tab stops on the board only once) and press with Enter or Space. Tips: keep your back-row pieces home to stop enemy kings, hold the center and advance in connected groups, and avoid leaving gaps that let the computer chain several captures. There is no time limit and no pause.
