Stock Trader
Controls Goal: invest 1,000,000 won in 5 fictional stocks over 60 trading days and grow your total assets (cash plus the value of your stocks) as much as possible by the last day. Controls: each stock has Buy 1, Buy half (half of the most you can buy) and Buy max, plus Sell 1, Sell half and Sell all; press the next-day button to let a day pass and reveal that day's closing prices. On day 60 press Close and see result. The screen shows the past price chart, your total-assets trend, and for each stock you hold the average cost and unrealized profit/loss (won and %); future prices are never shown. Scoring: every trade costs a 0.2% fee on the amount (rounded up), the market runs in 10 to 15 day stretches of rising, flat or falling, and each stock swings by a different amount (risk). The score is your total assets on the last day, higher is better. Time does not matter so there is no pause. Note: the tests calculated this market's best possible with hindsight: about 4.84 million won with perfect foresight and no fees, about 4.16 million with fees, while the best you could do by buying one stock and holding it to the end is about 1.33 million. Tips: read the chart for when the market turns, and since frequent trading piles up fees, only switch when the gain beats the round-trip fee (0.4%). The market is the same for everyone and a market you have seen before is a market whose future you know. These are fictional stocks unrelated to real investing.
